Leistung Auto are proud to announce the arrival to our showroom of this wonderful 1973 BMW E9 3.0 CSL. Arguably the car that announced BMWs capability as constructor of some of the worlds finest automobiles both on the road and on the racetrack. The E9 in 2800 CS and 3.0 CS/CSi guise was already a car of importance before the 3.0 CSL was introduced in 1972. Built to satisfy homologation rules for eligibilty to compete in the ETCC,the 3.0 CSL was constructed in thinner steel,using aluminium for the doors and bootlid,plexiglass for side windows and a delete in regards to soundproofing and trim. Such drastic weight saving measures were not insisted upon in the UK,as BMWs importer insisited on retaining soundproofing,electric windows(of which our car has all round)and stock E9 bumpers. Powered by a 3003cc motor(to satisfy the over 3 litre racing catagory regulations)and with power transmitted to the road via a 4 Speed manual transmission our car performs excellently and drives as a 3.0 CSL should. Our example is resplendent in original Verona Red with contrasting Black Leather and Grey Cloth upholstery finished with Red Piping. As to be expected a wood dash and door caps are present and are free from lacquer peel,accompanied by a leather bound steering wheel which is also in excellent order. The E9 we have here has been well cared for by its previous 4 owners and comes complete with a folder containing invoices,history and correspondence in relation to its upkeep both mechanical and cosmetic. Subject to a recent service of all fluids and a brake overhaul this classic BMW is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.
